The ‘big boy’ of the cellar… Dense, intense and powerful. Classic cool climate Merlot. Cedar wood, floral notes, crunchy red fruit and wild herbs combined with delicious oak flavour and lift. The bright fruit, fresh acid line and structure lingers for days. This wine will last a long time. Decant if you can – it will be rewarding.
Complex and simple all at once, this Shiraz / Viognier / Petit Verdot is a delight on the tongue and for all the remaining senses. Co-ferment whole bunch pressed and given a mixture of new and old oaks, you will pick up the prominent nose of the Shiraz and the colour of the Petit Verdot with the full mouthfeel the Viognier brings to this Oeniphile party.
This wine shows spice, perfumed oak, violets and wild berry on the nose. The palate is an array of intense concentrated anise, pepper and cardamon along with black and red fruits, backed up by the characteristic Kleinhoekkloof perfume. Focused and balanced with supple tannins and a chalky finish.
Due to the uniquely cold climate on the farm, this wine is crystal clear and bright which at first shows rich granadilla and cape gooseberries, however once settled in the bottle, these flavours show more fresh herbs and fynbos with a hint of green figs.
