Welcome to Kleinhoekkloof Wines
“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out going to the mountains is going home; that wilderness is a necessity…” – John Muir
Kleinhoekkloof is an award-winning family owned boutique wine and olive farm safely ensconced within the Langeberg Mountain range. Handcrafted wines are created here – wines that also reflect the superb quality of the fruit sourced from tiny wisps of vineyard. The farm has a rich heritage – spanning a century and more, and was acquired by the de Jongh family in 2004.
Kleinhoekkloof is the ideal place for the wine, food and nature lover seeking an authentic and peaceful countryside experience. Kleinhoekkloof eagerly embraces the belief that farming in harmony with nature ensures that significant strides are made in protecting our precious natural heritage. To this end 80 % of the farm is registered for BWI (Biodiversity and Wine Initiative) scheme, and by also participating in the Leopard Friendly farming initiative.
The Eye of the Mountain
“Wine is the most healthful and most hygienic of beverages.” – Louis Pasteur
Only 90 minutes drive from Cape Town on the popular Route 62, lies the Robertson Wine Valley. Nestled between the Langeberg and Riviersonderend Mountain ranges, this wine route offers a landscape of flower fringed roads, majestic mountains, a river running through the valley and above all, world class wines. This is where you will discover Kleinhoekkloof Wines.
The grapes are naturally fanned by the 4:30pm wind which comes up daily, without fail. Undoubtedly a natural place to produce structured concentrated wines with unique character and great ageing potential. Some would call us an old world classic in a brave new world, but we prefer to work with the soil and the climate to produce wines that reflect our little slice of heaven in the back corner of the Robertson Wine Valley.
